It's rather noticeable too that very few pastors or priests (at least above the level of communities effected by the deportations) have said anything at all about it. I suppose that some of the Rainbow Churchians have, idk, but nobody in Conservative or Traditional ranks are saying anything. Of course, during the lockdowns we saw what most of those churches were really made of.

You're right: even from a Realpolitik standpoint, this kind of thing probably scares the average voter more than it helps. A leadership ruthless enough to do this to one group is capable of doing it to others. It needs to be stressed that the people being deported are NOT illegal immigrants. Illegals are the Federal Government's responsibility. These people have been vetted and granted pending Entry Status into the U.S. and being rounded up by these states after getting permission to be here. It's pure political theater, a stunt. One thing these particular Republicans don't seem to understand is that it is also really bad optics. Even if just on a subconscious level, the vast majority of Americans know we have far more in common with those being loaded onto busses then we do with the elite political players.

Issues with election integrity are a real enough problem, but this is foundational problem for the Republican party and part of why we struggle to win elections. Even I self identify far more with the "welfare queen," the guy who has failed to "pull himself up by his bootstraps," and those we are yelling "get a job" to on street corners. This is a party that portrays itself as being devoid of compassion, devoid of humanity. I happen to know that's not really true, but most people don't have the time or inclination to shovel off all the rubbish and find out.

Regardless, Happy Thanksgiving. insanitybytes22https://www.blogger.com/profile/15704422075852176824noreply@blogger.com
