INDIAN SUMMER AND THE REAL WORLD

   So, we're back from an Indian Summer vacation. Autumn got off to a late start here, so it was nice to have good weather through October as we have. Then it was back to the 'scene'. During the interval, the usual happened. The news was the usual cycle of mass-shootings, the Great Reset marching on, ridiculous sex scandals, and an absolutely meaningless election next month. And, of course, it's all Russia's, or China's, or immigrants', or Biden's, or Trump's fault depending on whichever reliable source one chooses to listen to. 

   

   And, yes, I did say a meaningless election. I realize that the talking-points of both factions of the Uniparty claim this is "the most important election of our lifetime": something they've said about every election that I can remember. With a strong plurality of Americans completely blown out on drugs---to the point where 1 in 20 can't even identify their own gender---we can't expect anyone to remember 2020 all that clearly, let alone 2018 and beyond.

   I'm tending to agree with Norwegian author Bjorn Bull-Hansen that the further we get away from Nature, the further we drift away from any sense of Reality. I don't mean this in the same sense that the Climate-Crisis kooks mean it. Cities, electricity, highways, mass-communications, factories, chemicals, jets: these aren't bad things. What I'm referring to is the growing danger to our Republic of a people increasingly unaware of how Nature operates and increasingly out of touch with a sense of Cause and Effect. How is self-government supposed to function in a society where many (if not most) have no idea how babies are made, how the weather works, how money is created, or how food is produced? 

  The Election 'issues' are a case in point. The Whacko Left Wing is fighting for the 'right' to abort babies even though not a single one of them has the slightest idea of why that might be a desirable thing. They also fear 'racism' and 'extremism' though nobody can define what either of those things actually mean. As for the Controlled Opposition, they promise us at least two more years of useless investigations and silly impeachment attempts. That, and vowing to crack down on immigration and stop being such weenies when confronting our foreign 'enemies' like Russia and China. Never mind that none of that will fix our failing schools, corrupt legal establishment, encourage families or small businesses, reverse out-of-control crime and drug addiction, or renovate our collapsing infrastructure. 

  If polls generated by the Mainstream Media can be believed, inflation and cost-of-living issues are the most important. It may be so, but what solutions have we been offered? The Democrats want more taxing and spending, which will make the problem worse. The Republicans want to give away even more government to Corporate America, which will also make the problem worse. 

  In fact, the problem with the American Right is that it largely has become what it once opposed. We only have to look at most 'Conservative' websites to see this clearly. 

  1. The Right, during the Trump years criticized the Democrat lie that the 2016 Election was stolen with Russian collusion. Today they promote the lie that 2020 was stolen with Chinese collusion. That it was stolen largely by supranational Corporate bureaucrats goes ignored. 

 2. The Right has criticized the January 6 Show-Trials and other political pogroms being launched by the Junta. Their solution? Put the Left on show-trials and use the Surveillance/Security State against them.

 3. The Right raised alarm about the draconian proposals to segregate and disenfranchise those who refused the Loyalty Vaxx. They see no problem however, with depriving immigrants of employment and loading them on buses and dumping them somewhere else.

 4. The Right criticized the Whacko Left's movement to defund the police, yet they are openly calling for the abolition of the FBI. No talk, however, about dismantling Bush-era expansions of federal secret police forces and domestic espionage systems which actually do trample on American Rights and do nothing to fight actual crime (e.g. DHS, ICE, TSA, etc.)

 5. The Right criticizes Cancel Culture, yet seems to want to employ political litmus tests for federal funding, tax breaks, and government contracts themselves. Nobody is asking whether any of this funding, unequal taxation, or outsourcing of government functions should be legal in the first place.

   The worst feature of the Postmodern Right though is it's increasing disregard for any sense of tolerance and compromise---or the consequences of any of their actions. If one actually presents them facts; say, the humanitarian disaster that would follow mass-deportations and disenfranchisement of immigrants (not to mention the sheer cost and impact on small businesses and larger farms); the response is typically something like an indifferent shrug. "Oh well, that's their problem." 

  The same with banning abortion (which I do favor). A ban on abortion would increase our badly-declining birth rates, but admittedly children are expensive. Suggesting a sensible policy like Russia's of extending their version of AFDC to all mothers---which has actually encouraged childbirth and traditional families there---is met with horror. "No way! That's increasing welfare!" So, I suppose that instead of more women at home raising families, the solution is to put them in the fields to pick the tomatoes that the migrant farm workers are no longer allowed to do. 

   

    I think that if anyone analyzes the attitudes of most Postmodern 'Conservatives' one will see that they've actually internalized the predominate Liberal mythology that socioeconomic issues are a zero-sum game. The Left reflexively and uncritically believes that someone else's prosperity comes at the expense of others. The Right has adopted the same philosophy, and assume that our recent socioeconomic decline is because the poor and working classes are demanding too much; or that an 'invasion' of immigrants is responsible. In a corrupt system like ours has become, it's easy to see how such conclusions might be reached; but neither the productive rich nor the working poor are to blame. 

  We can see this zero-sum mentality played out in obvious relief in foreign policy. It's assumed that Chinese economic growth or Russia's successful social programs represent a loss for the United States. Instead of learning from what they've done to succeed or fixing our own problems, the Right engages in the politics of envy, and makes these countries 'enemies' out of sheer jealousy. They demonize immigrants for the same reason: the strong religious, family, and work ethic brought in from the so-called Third World exposes American deficiency in all of these areas.

  None of this projection, of course, is solving (or going to solve) any of our national problems, because none of it addresses problems which Americans face as a whole. It's all about owning the Libtards---not by proving or offering a better plan, but by engaging in 'political theater'; i.e. getting the dupes to buy a message spun by Madison Avenue marketing firms and social media. As Jonah Goldberg, formerly of the National Review said, “As the country’s become more polarized, and we reward the outrageous beyond its worst, you get this race-to-the-bottom competitiveness, where people want to get noticed and have to be even more outrageous than the next person.” Nikki Haley, the former UN Ambassador, told a group of students recently that, "owning the libs is fun and that it can feel good, but step back and think about what you’re accomplishing when you do this — are you persuading anyone? Who are you persuading? … We’ve all been guilty of it at some point or another, but this kind of speech isn’t leadership — it’s the exact opposite.”

   That sort of advice falls upon deaf ears these days because, as noted, people mostly have lost any sense of Cause and Effect. We could defeat the NWO Left by exposing what they are, defeating them with logic, and offering a better way that addresses many of their concerns. But that strategy is not 'Alpha' for the postmodern Right: and they would rather show that they can be more extreme and more ruthless than the Left. This has been tried before and failed. Right-Wing European politicians tried it during the 1930s as the antidote to the extremism of Communist movements. The result? By the 1940s, they'd made Joseph Stalin and Chairman Mao look like political moderates. 

   That's going to be the same result if the postmodern Right continues on its current course. It's one thing to listen to Left-Wing pundits spout off about throwing the Unvaxxed out of society; it's another thing to watch Republican governors actually do it to immigrants and realizing the truth that mere talk and concrete actions are two different things. We don't need---or want---a Right-Wing version of Justin Trudeau in the United States. People will naturally choose what they perceive to be the lesser of two evils: the relative safety of Socialism will draw more votes than the brutality of Fascism. Maybe our side's strategy should be to offer something other than an alternative evil. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem like it's going to happen any time soon.
