As the numbers look increasingly worse for Conservatism Incorporated's hopes of installing themselves in power, the RNC Leadership (or what passes for one) has been making a last-ditch effort to win back the Conservative Base whom they've spent the last four years alienating. Too many of us remember the times since the First Bush Administration and what happens when we let the Frat-Boys run everything; and most of these phony outreach efforts are falling on deaf ears.
Since 2020, the Neocons have taken several States and the US House and Americans have seen what the New, Woke Right really looks like in actual practice. Aside from the pathetic GOP Congress, Governors in Virginia, Texas, Florida, Ohio, and Iowa have shown us all what a Woke Republican Presidency would do. Currently, the Republicans are either losing or struggling in all of these States, as familiarity tends to breed contempt.
Meanwhile, though, across the Atlantic, Conservatism is winning and especially among younger Europeans. The reason for the differences aren't difficult to discern. The European Right is willing to stand for what it (and most people) believe in and their ideals aren't for sale to the highest bidder. They don't look down upon their fellow-citizens as inferiors or chattel for Corporate Overlords. They enact concrete policies for the national benefit instead of engaging in cheap publicity stunts. In short, they appeal to people's better natures: something that American Neocons don't seem to believe that those of us among the Common Herd actually possess.
Most of all, the kind of Denialism that we see in America doesn't seem to be prevalent among European Conservatives. In European politics, nobody gets a free pass and is considered one the good guys just because he puts an 'R' after his name. In our political landscape, it's difficult to imagine how much more obviously the Republican Party could present itself as the servile tool of the Globalist Oligarchs; but nonetheless people gullibly accept anything paid pundits working in GOP interests tell them, no matter how absurd.
On Tuesday night, the chances are very high right now that the True Believers are going to get a massive Reality Check. What's worse, Conservatism Incorporated is already priming its followers with warnings of a Stolen Election: despite the fact that they did absolutely nothing about the previous election which really was stolen; or the fact that the Democrats have had to resort to very little cheating in 2022 or 2023. The Left probably won't have to do much actual cheating this year either, since the GOP Leadership and the terrible slate of candidates they have is a recipe for self-destruction. But it's in the interests of both the Party Establishment and their Corporate Overlords to perpetuate the Strategy of Tension and keep the populace fearful of another so that the real threats to our Republic are never addressed.
If we are to rebuild a genuine Conservative Movement in the US again, we must look to its champions in Europe. By this, we do not mean simply copying their campaign tactics as an advertising gimmick over here. What we mean is choosing leaders like the ones leading them. In order to do this, however, we need to free ourselves from seeking top-down solutions from authoritarian would-be political messiahs, such as many in the New Right admire. We have to re-adopt a philosophy which looks to the good of the Nation as a whole, rather than the financial opportunism of a few vested interests.
One logically would assume that the fact that so many on the New Right openly refer to themselves as Neo-Reactionaries or Alternative Right, that we would conclude that they are anything but Traditional Conservatives. But, again, too many want to look the other way and pretend that this crowd isn't at least as dangerous as the Left. Any reform movement within the Republican Party is going to have begin by exorcising this Nest of Vipers from our ranks; along with their moneyed employers on Wall Street and their Neocon enablers.
There are many good Conservatives left among the American people---including some in positions of power and influence---who are capable of bringing this kind of reformation about. This is the path that the European Right is taking, and one which we must follow.
