As if we didn't have enough Corporate-run, federally-subsidized NGOs subverting our Civil Liberties and extracting as much taxpayer money out of productive Americans as humanly possible, the woke New Right is gracing us all with yet another. An organization bearing the ominous-sounding title the Department of Government Efficiency is the first major usurpation by the Executive Branch since Bush Junior created the equally illegal Department of Homeland Security (who, incidentally, followed Bush Senior who gave us a Drug Czar). Since however, we've evolved from the Dead White Males who founded our Republic into one with Czars and Secret Police Forces, we might as well have a Royal Chamberlain too; after all, the royal revenue can't be trusted to Congress as the Constitution specifies.
This new organization will be headed by two WEF Young Global Leaders, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
Both of these worthies were outspoken anti-MAGA ideologues until just recently. Like Vice-President JD Vance, both are acolytes of the Dark Enlightenment, which, as its alternate name Neoreactionary implies, is simply the Great Reset without the Virtue-Signalling and pretenses of Populism. In fact, the Populism of the previous Trump Administration was what Vance, Musk, and Ramaswamy found most distasteful about it, although that aspect of this year's Red Wave was discreetly ignored. At the last two major Trump Rallies before the Election, Musk even unveiled the term Dark MAGA, and sported the black and gold colors of the Neoreactionary Movement. This, too, elicited no objections from anyone of any standing on the Right.
Some on the Right are seeing the danger, though whether anyone will listen or not is an open question. Patrick Wood of Technocracy News wrote:
"We want the government to be downsized but not at the hands of arch-Technocrats like Musk and Ramaswamy, who are intending to deconstruct and disrupt the federal government. This was the manta of historic Technocracy from the 1930s: inefficiency and cutting waste would result in abundance and prosperity...
"Trump is drunk from the Technocracy-laced Kool-Aid. Musk and Ramaswamy are tasked to 'dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulation, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies' in order to 'Save America.' Will Congress be OK with shredding the Constitution in the process? After all, there are laws on the books and funding requirements set by the House of Representatives.
"Phase two: with so many government jobs on the line, look for recommendations for AI to replace functions and employees en mass. Yes, government by AI! Be careful about what you wish for, America. Techno-Populism will give way to Technocracy and the end of America altogether."
Lest anyone think that Wood is exaggerating, we should remind everyone that Musk is major proponent of Artificial Intelligence, and Ramaswamy's company sought to nationalize private health records to create a database of COVID-19 status, without patient consent, as recently as 2021. All of this is consistent with Dark Enlightenment thinking, which has been defined as "a form of post-libertarian Futurism that, realizing that libertarians aren't likely to win any elections, argues against democracy in favor of authoritarian forms of government. Supporters believe in the replacement of modern nation-states, democracy and government bureaucracies by authoritarian city states, which on Neoreaction blogs sound as much like idealized medieval kingdoms as they do modern enclaves such as Singapore."
Which sound not unlike the goals of the Great Reset, but unlike the Biden/Harris version, bases its popular appeal on the most vicious elements of the Alt-Right. The two movements overlap in their contempt for humanity, their overt Supremacism, their deterministic, Social Darwinist economic theories, their gross philosophical Materialism, and their idolatry of success and force. Andrew Anglin, of the Neo-Nazi Daily Stormer once boasted that most of his funding came from Silicon Valley Tech centers, where the Dark Enlightenment Movement originated.
Unfortunately, Conservatives did (and continue to do) what they do best; look the other way and pretend that what they see unfolding before their eyes isn't really happening. We'll see if they still feel the same way when a Government that functions poorly is replaced with one that doesn't function at all; and when unelected bureaucrats are replaced with unelected Corporate Boards and AI bots.
