CINCO DE MAYO MUSINGS

  Today is the unofficial holiday called 'Cinco de Mayo'; which is actually celebrated with more fanfare in the United States than in Mexico. In Mexico, it commemorates the 1862 Battle of Puebla, wherein General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated Maximilian's forces. Maybe the holiday gained more currency here because Zaragoza was born in Texas and was related to some of the defenders of the Alamo. But who knows...

    Zaragoza is on the Mexican $500 bill, showing that Mexico honors its patriots more than we do ours.

     Recently, some politicians have seized on the idea of constructing a border wall between the US and Mexico; something like the Berlin Wall, only a larger scale. The idea has been around for a long time. The City of San Diego constructed a wall between itself and Tijuana back in the 90s, but the later discovery of an elaborate tunnel system built underneath caused any further efforts to be laughed off the political landscape.

      But now, the Border Wall is back. To be honest, the hardest thing to understand is why Mexico opposes it. Mexico has a lot of problems, but not nearly on the level we have. Mexican schools actually educate people; the family is still strong; there are no so-called 'gender wars'; the Church is still respected; business is encouraged; political correctness is nonexistent; their news media actually investigates stories and informs people; Moslems aren't being allowed into Mexico to set up terror cells---in short, Mexico is culturally a lot like we used to be.

       Proponents of the Border Wall point to groups like La Raza as supposed evidence of evil Mexican designs on the country. La Raza is, in fact, made up of 2nd and 3rd generations of Hispanics who have been educated in Left-Wing American universities. They point to drug trafficking across the border as a problem---although the high demand for such products in the United States might actually be indicative of a more serious problem on our side. They point to the Drug Cartels in Northern Mexico; the Mexicans respond by pointing to things like Operation Fast-and-Furious and the notorious corruption of ICE agents, facts which Americans prefer to ignore.

        Americans also ignore the fact that most illegal drugs aren't coming from South America at all. Most of it is either produced here or smuggled in from Asia. Instead of spending billions on building a wall, it might be a better idea to beef up security at our ports. At last report, only two percent of cargo coming to the US is properly inspected. Why sneak across the border when you can sail right into an American port and have a 98% chance of not getting caught?

        Of course, the Trump Card of the Wall's supporters is the claim that illegal immigrants are stealing American jobs and putting a drain on the welfare system.

       The US Chamber of Commerce found in 2013 that over half of illegal immigrants were paying withholding taxes; and estimated that as a group, illegal immigrants actually pay more taxes than they take in welfare. Now, certain ethnic groups of native-born Americans actually cost more in welfare than they pay; but it's politically incorrect to mention that, since black lives matter.

      As for them stealing American jobs, the idea is absurd. The reason immigrants are taking American jobs is because:

       1. Their culture instills in them a work ethic---ours does not.

       2. Their culture rewards initiative---ours does not.

       3. Their culture encourages them to develop job skills---ours does not.

       Think about it for one moment: if all illegal aliens left tomorrow, who seriously believes that all the ghetto trash, the street bums, and the fork-bearded hipsters pontificating in salons are suddenly going to rush in and fill their jobs? Or, more to the point, what employer would want them to?

       Therein lies the irony: basically what politicians on the Right are saying is that Americans are entitled to jobs which doesn't exactly strike one as a Conservative position. And that's because it's not a Conservative position.

       Conservatives believe---or used to believe--- in free enterprise. That is, people competed for jobs and the best qualified got them. That's why Ronald Reagan---the last real Conservative to hold Executive Office here---dealt with the 'immigration crisis' by granting a national amnesty in 1986. Reagan also believed in tearing down border walls. But like the Communist Party of East Germany, the Right today wants border walls and job entitlements.
     

PUTIN HONORS FALLEN WAR HERO

  Lt. Alexander Prokhorenko, a 25 year-old expectant father, was buried today following a military funeral. He was awarded posthumously Russia's equivalent to our Medal of Honor by President Putin. He is survived by his wife Ekaterina and their unborn child. His hometown of Orenberg has named a street in his honor.

  Lt. Prokhorenko was killed in the Battle of Palmyra. He was part of a commando team operating behind ISIS lines whose mission was to relay coordinates of ISIS positions for air and artillery strikes. This is one the most dangerous missions in any military operation. The team is basically positioned between two lines of fire; and mostly cut off from support.

  The ISIS forces discovered Prokhorenko's position and surrounded him. After holding on until his ammunition was exhausted, Prokhorenko called in an artillery strike on his own position to prevent valuable intelligence from falling into ISIS hands. Sadly, he lost his own life; but his sacrifice saved countless Allied soldiers.

  Although this story has been ignored by the American media, Prokhorenko's family received an outpouring of gifts and support from the people of Europe.

   It's unsurprising that the US media would ignore this story, since it stands in such contrast with the embarrassingly low quality and shameful performance of our own military personnel recently. The media propagandists have the Ameroboob thoroughly convinced that 'our brave men and women (and LGBTQs) in uniform' are the world's premier fighting force. And they believe this in spite of watching our Navy surrender two gunships intact to the Iranian Coast Guard led away in tears; kneeling and apologizing before the Iranians; and being so traumatized by the ordeal of being kept in a hotel room overnight that they've had to undergo therapy. Or, The Few, the Proud, the Marines, who adapted, improvised, and overcame a lone Moslem attacker in Chattanooga by crawling under their desks and screaming for the local sheriff to come rescue them.

   The list could go on, but the American public prefers to continue in blissful ignorance of these matters. Nor do they want to hear about acts of heroism from abroad, since that makes them uncomfortable. And besides, a white, Christian, heterosexual male died; so who cares?

   But to those few of us Americans who still respect what true heroism is, we say: Rest in Peace, Lt. Pokhorenko. Your sacrifice means something to those of us who still believe that there are things worth dying for.

THE LAST TRUMP

    Admittedly, trying to generate any enthusiasm to discourse on the 2016 US President Election is difficult. But necessity dictates it, because one party now has its nominee, while for the other, the drama continues.

    And that's exactly what it all amounts to---all drama. That's why celebrities, and not thinkers get nominations. If we had an electorate that wanted men of ability to lead them, the 2016 Election would have been between Ben Carson and Jim Webb. They were the only Republican and Democratic candidates who were talking about solutions.

      But solutions are not what the American public wants to hear; because solving problems involves efforts and sacrifices. Not that they mind making others exert effort and make sacrifices, of course; and this is why we get the kinds of candidates we do. Trump, Clinton, and Sanders are simply (like most other recent candidates) blank screens upon which the Ameroboobs project their own hopes and fears. And the reason we have these types of candidates is because of a truth no one dares want to utter: It is because the majority of Americans have chosen to abdicate their responsibility of self-government.

        It was formerly an established legal principle in the United States that ultimate sovereignty rested with the people themselves. There were Checks and Balances built into the system and the ability to change things was sometimes frustratingly slow. But because Instant Gratification and avoidance of responsibility are the highest virtues of Americans today; it simply becomes easier for them to find a candidate who shares their feelings (i.e. tells them what they want to hear). They don't have to propose solutions for anything. It's enough to share mutual resentments and go on from there. Essentially, it's all about wish-fulfillment. The Ameroboob wishes the economy was better, so we build a Border Wall or raise the Minimum Wage. Those things sound good; in spite of the fact that they will accomplish nothing. How about the American people getting off their butts and putting pressure on the government to strengthen the Dollar, so that money actually had value again? Or repealing restrictive laws holding down employment? Or diverting wasted billions of dollars on to rebuilding national infrastructure?

        "No" the Ameroboob would answer, "That is what we elect representatives to do."

      Then don't complain that, after delegating all of your power to people at the top, that you're being oppressed later on. As Abraham Lincoln said, "In America, a man is a citizen-king or he is nothing." The American people today have chosen to be nothing, and want their elected officials to rule like kings: and somehow expect from that arrangement to reap the benefits of Liberty. Hence, they get political leaders who constantly pander to the lowest common denominator while, at the same time, expanding their power: and, when they use these expanded powers, are unable to accomplish anything with them.

        Before we have any beneficial changes in our country, the American people are to start facing reality for a change. But no candidate will say that. And as long as they don't say it, we'll continue on our downward course.

THE THREAT FROM THE EAST

     About 50,000 protestors, a tiny fraction of the population, turned out in Tokyo yesterday to oppose proposed changes to the Japanese Constitution. These changes would repeal many post-WW2 restrictions on Japanese re-armament and military deployments abroad. The Japanese leadership, under Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Abe, have already been pursuing an aggressive policy to re-militarize the Empire.

     Considering that the Japanese Empire is currently headed by men whose families instigated WW2, one would think that Americans would look with apprehension on these developments. But naturally, they prefer to let others do their thinking for them. The Government-Media Complex has the Ameroboob completely convinced that Chinese development of some uninhabited atoll or North Korean weather-satellite launches pose a graver threat to world peace than the re-birth of Imperial Japan.

      This is not surprising, considering that Japanese investment in the United States is 50 times greater than China's. So we can expect Japan to get a free pass, like many other countries whose interests are adverse to ours. But we should have a closer look at the character of another of our 'allies'.

      Japan is an Imperial State headed by a royal figure who is worshipped as an earthly god by his subjects. His father, Hirohito, was defeated in WW2; and by Japanese moral standards, this defeat caused a loss of 'face' which the son is obliged to avenge. His prime minister, Shinzo Abe, is also a descendant of political figures active in that regime. Japanese policy towards foreign powers has never been anything but hostile. Part of their cultural indoctrination holds that the Japanese are 'The Master Race of Asia' and that it is Japan's divine destiny to bring the world under the control of their emperor-god.

      During American occupation from the 1940s-1970s, the Japanese were exposed to American culture (when our culture was still a force for good) and lifted themselves out of their barbaric past. But as America declined, the reactionaries saw their opportunity and are coming back. Consider these facts:

       *The Empire has never apologized for atrocities committed during WW2. They have in fact demanded that territories be returned to them, such as Sakhalin Island. Recently, they displayed reproduction military equipment from that period---just before unveiling a new Stealth Fighter. Only three other countries have this advanced technology.

        *The Empire has publically stated that the development of biochemical weapons of mass-destruction can legally be produced in Japan.

         *The Empire has deployed military forces abroad---with US complicity---and made spurious territorial claims against Daiyou.

          *The Empire has suppressed independence movements in Okinawa, and refuse to recognize the Okinawan culture.

            *The Empire has acted as a State Sponsor of Terrorism: supplying vehicles to ISIS; trafficking in black-market commodities; and aiding the Uighar Moslem terrorists to destabilize China. Japan has also fomented political unrest in Hong Kong and instigated tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

             These are all replays of strategies the Empire carried out during the 1920s and 30s.

             Note the parallels between the Japanese Empire and Saudi Arabia---another country with deep financial interests in the US. The Saudis also engage in these kinds of activities, to which our political and media leadership also turn a blind eye. Our cultural elites have learned that allies and enemies can be created at will and imposed on the Ameroboob without question. And the elites laugh all the way to the bank and leave the future to itself.

THE IDIOCRACY

   American media and academic propagandists like to hype our educational system as 'second to none'. Teachers are held up as national heroes; money is poured into the Academic Establishment with zero accountability (because we can trust such noble spirits implicitly, can't we)?

    The US certainly has the world's most expensive public school system---and not coincidentally, also the one most top-heavy with bureaucrats. No one knows what these bureaucrats actually do---but it must be important because they are paid well and never laid off, like teachers are, during periodic budget-cuts.

      Let's see what kind of results the Ameroboob gets for his money, shall we?

     In 2002, Bush Junior commissioned a 10-year comprehensive study called The National Assessment of Adult Literacy. The results were released in early 2013 and quickly swept under the rug by an embarrassed Obama Administration. Here's what the Assessment found:

       Proficient Literacy Skills: 13%
       Functional Literacy Skills 44%
       Functional Illiteracy 29%
       Illiteracy: 14%

     We've used the older terms to describe the skills in lieu of the more sensitive ones the Academic Mafia employed to hide the disgraceful results. The fact is that 43% of Americans can't read the text of this blog page and 87% can't read it and analyze it proficiently.

      There were further rather embarrassing details. Despite the fact that public high schools suck up huge percentages of state and federal budgets, a whopping 19% of high school graduates can't read. They go through 12 grades apparently, without our heroic teachers noticing this small defect in their education.

      Total Number of Adults who can't read an 8th-Grade textbook: 50%.

       Percentage of Families who did not buy a book this year: 80%

       Percentage of Adults who haven't been to a bookstore in five years: 70%

    This could be a tough one in a nation of drug addicts like ours:

       Percentage of Adults who can't understand the labels on prescription bottles: 46%.

     It would appear that the 'Dumbing-Down' of our schools is not a myth after all.

     So the question naturally arises: why aren't these issues being addressed? Why don't politicians talk about school reform other than to throw more money at the problem? And there's the rub.

     Politicians want an ignorant population, because anybody who could think for themselves would examine what they say and hold them accountable. The media wants an ignorant population, because people who are easy prey to propaganda increases their power. Wall Street likes it because it's easy to part ignoramuses from their money and confuse them with their currency-manipulation scams.  Of course, the Academic Mafia likes it most of all, because they profit off it.

       The danger to our society from national illiteracy ought to be apparent even to the average Ameroboob. But it's obviously not, so we'll have to explain it:

        A free society simply cannot exist with a stupid population. It's not possible. The Illiterate and Semi-Literate exist in a realm where emotion, rather that reason, drives conduct---by necessity. In direct proportion to his ignorance, a man is open to the fanatic, the demagogue, the enemies of freedom. Is it any wonder why social pundits speak of a 'divided nation'? It is divided, and will remain so, for the very reason that emotion is not a stable foundation for any public policy.

        Can the problem be fixed? It can; but Americans first need to pull their heads out of the sand and face it squarely. More likely it won't be faced until foreign technologies and achievements. That's already happening in some areas; but try and tell that to the Ameroboob (when he's not busy watching College Football).

MAY DAY MAYHEM

   Well, it's time for that annual American day of fun and frolic, May Day. A day when the Scum of the entire planet converge on major cities to commit as much senseless mayhem as their limited intellects can suggest.

     Seattle, the national epicenter of everything senseless, took center stage again this year. Anarchists, Bolsheviks, Neo-Nazis, homeless bums, and every other social misfit showed up for the festivities armed with Molotov Cocktails, slingshots loaded with bolts, gas grenades, baseball bats, and other fun toys. To its credit, the Seattle Police actually made some arrests this year. Not that this will do any good, since the Seattle Police Chief and White House honoree, Kathleen O'Toole, has made it a policy not to prosecute these...ummm...protestors.

     The rest of the Pacific Coast wasn't too far behind. San Francisco, Portland, Oakland, and Los Angeles all saw their cities paralyzed. It never seems to occur to the Ameroboob that there's a fundamental difference between protestors and street thugs. In a civilized society, protestors don't resort to violence because they can achieve legitimate goals through an established process. Those who do resort to it, by definition are in rebellion against Civilization. Therefore, it becomes the duty of the Government to suppress these elements---whose sole aim is to tear Civilization apart.

     The elements who make up these protests are not motivated by some lofty goals of advancing human progress. We're talking about a Political Underworld here; organized crime wearing the mask of the public interest. In spite of all their pretentions of 'Anarchy' these riots and demonstrations are clearly well-organized and orchestrated events. The question is: who is behind them, and why?

      The answer to that question is the answer to most social plagues: Follow the Money. Who profits off social chaos and overthrowing society? Lots of people do. Because after you've burned it all down, somebody has to rebuild it. And one doesn't have to look at US history much further than Iraq to see that vested interests profit quite handsomely after a society has been overthrown and destroyed.

      And not only do people have to rebuild a ruined culture; the New Order requires leadership. Is it any wonder that the Media and Academia---a bunch of incompetents who couldn't rise above minimum-wage positions in a freely competitive society---all wholeheartedly support the efforts of our mask-wearing friends in the streets. Needless to say, nobody in either the Media or Academia will bother exposing the purse-holders funding these criminal gangs; and neither will the Government (despite all its power) or Wall Street (despite the fact that they are supposedly the targets of these gangs).

      The only thing that is going to stop this kind of political gangsterism is for the American people to come out of their cowardice and drug-induced lethargy long enough to start demanding that their leaders do something about it. After all, American Presidents from Roosevelt to Reagan had the FBI busy keeping American cities free of these SA-style Brownshirts by putting their leaders in jail where they belong. May Day back then was marked by children building May Baskets, dancing around Maypoles on playgrounds, and parades with the local May Queen tossing candies from a float. And today, well...we get to watch scenes reminiscent of the Weimar Republic.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TWENTY, PART II

    The Cultural Marxists who wish to efface Andrew Jackson from American history naturally revise that history to promote their agendas. One of the most pervasive myths they've circulated centers on the Indian Relocation of 1838. They've even given colorful names to this incident such as 'The Trail of Tears'. And they employ the usual rhetoric such as 'genocide' and 'a Winter death-march'. It never occurs to those hearing this propaganda that, if Jackson had really intended genocide, a more efficient method than marching people to death would have been employed.

     But no matter, their goal is to discredit American heroes, not focus on the truth. And it's time the truth came out about this, since we'll never hear it from today's Academic Establishment.

      The events leading up to Relocation were rooted in the War of Independence. The British government had forbidden Americans to settle west of the Appalachians to protect vested interests exploiting the resources there. During the War, Lord Cornwallis formulated a plan to incite an Indian uprising against the Patriots. The plan never materialized thanks largely to the energetic initiative of another now-forgotten Dead White Male---George Rogers Clark. Clark captured the entire territory between Appalachia and the Mississippi with a handful of soldiers and won it for America.

        The American government pursued a policy of peaceful co-existence with the Indians, especially in the Southeast One of the Northern tribes, the Shawnees, refused to recognize the new government and were a source of problems. But the 'Five Nations' in the south were semi-autonomous regions. They issued passports, trade treaties and had local governments. 

        The British coveted their lost territory and saw an opportunity to put Cornwallis' plan in motion. Before the War of 1812 began, they were in contact with the Shawnees who secretly built an alliance. The Five Nations betrayed the Americans; and in 1812, the West exploded into a mass Indian uprising.  The Indians not only betrayed the Americans, they were guilty of some of the most hideous atrocities against American nationals---equal in their barbarity to anything perpetrated by the Japanese in WW2. The River Raisin, Fort Mims, and other places no longer remembered were the scenes of these horrors. Two future presidents---William Henry Harrison and Andrew Jackson put the uprising down through some extraordinary efforts.

         The War of 1812 more than anything changed American attitudes towards the Indians; which before had been one of respect. Presidents Monroe and Adams restored the Five Nations, but public pressure was deeply against it. Clashes between settlers and Indians became more frequent and more violent; political leaders worried---not without reason---about the Indian homeland as a security threat. Jackson shared in that concern, but sought to do justice to the Indians. In 1835 a treaty between the US and the Five Nations stipulated that the Indians would cede the Southeast in exchange for a gift of land beyond the Mississippi. The Indians agreed, and the territory would be ceded by 1838. (As a side note, Jackson's fears of a 'security risk' came true: the Five Nations later joined the Confederacy in the Civil War).

         By 1838, 3/4 of the Indians had already moved. The Jackson Administration took the former territories by Right of Eminent Domain. General Winfield Scott was ordered to remove the remaining Indians to the new territory. Scott brought wagon trains with him. The only actual marching done on the Trail of Tears were Scott's soldiers. The Indians rode in wagons.

        Scott hoped to reach the Mississippi River before Winter, where our oppressive government had contracted steamships at taxpayer expense to ferry the Indians across. But in the Fall of 1838, an epidemic broke out. Scott was forced to set up camp and over-winter while Jackson rushed in medical supplies, provisions, and reinforcements. By Spring 1839, the plague subsided and Scott moved on to the Mississippi without further incident. One of the steamships conveying the Indians had a boiler explosion and sank---despite Scott's rescue efforts several lives were lost. But in the end, Scott was commended for his management of the mission, which was an extremely complicated one.

        So the vast majority of deaths in the infamous winter death march came from a plague and a riverboat disaster that claimed more than a few dead white males as well. There is not one authentic account or verifiable proof that Scott committed any atrocities whatsoever.

       What isn't in any doubt is that the Indian 'activists' of today follow the same patterns as their forefathers: living tax-free on free government land; sucking down every government handout available---then paying us back by selling out to our enemies, the Cultural Marxists, and complaining constantly about the raw deal they think they're getting. And the histories written and revised about them by Left-Wing Academia portrays the Indian about as realistically as this:
