Today is Super Bowl Sunday; wherein the politically-correct National Football League showcases the one thing that American Academia still excels in producing: millionaire sports celebrities. And no doubt there will be plenty of the annual male-shaming and controversial Hollywood outbursts and Corporate Media ads. A far cry from when football was about sportsmanship, teamwork, and community spirit.
But while our non-athletic university students were busy spending the Summer protesting over transgender toilets and the Fall rioting against democracy, European scholars were on the job. A team of geologists from South Africa, Norway, and Germany announced a major discovery this weekend of a submerged prehistoric sub-continent in the Indian Ocean.
Researches began on the tiny island nation of Mauritius, a former French colonial outpost east of Madagascar. The island is mostly a shipping hub in the international spice and perfume trade.
Geologists found samples of pure volcanic zirconium crystals on the island's beaches which were carbon-dated much older than the island itself. The crystals were believed to have been borne to Mauritius during millennia of typhoons and tidal waves, to which the island is susceptible. South African professor Dr. Louis Ashwal of the University of Witwatersrand began to have his doubts.
Ashwal theorized that the similarity and quantity of zirconium discovered had to have its origins in a major volcanic eruption. After excavating lava beds on Mauritius, Ashwal discovered identical zirconium crystal embedded in the lava-rock: proving that the samples existed on a land-mass locally.
The team published a paper and concluded that Mauritius sits atop a submerged lost island called Mauritania that geologists have long theorized existed, but could never locate. The island was submerged 84 million years ago during a period of continental drift.
Ashwal and his team are currently arranging deep-sea expeditions to confirm the theory. It is hoped that the expedition will discover fossil remains of prehistoric life; as well as add to our knowledge of continental drift; volcanic activities below the seas; and possible discoveries related to polar-shift and climate-change theories.
The discovery is an example of what Academia does when it's functioning properly. Doing things like providing invaluable information about geological history that may well prove useful in future projects that will benefit all mankind. Man conquers Nature when he understands how Nature operates; and Man acts according to those Laws. Beating up Trump supporters and building unisex bathrooms doesn't factor much in the great scheme of things.
And for that matter, neither do controversial half-time shows or MVP awards which are about as phony the Hollywood Oscars' ceremonies. Maybe we should look at South Africa and Europe for models reforming our own educational system.

After President Trump threatened to eliminate funding for the UC-Berkeley after a violent riot there, the Academic and Corporate Media establishments went into full-damage control mode. UC President Nicholas Dirks---already under investigation by the State of California for misuse of public funds---is also under a cloud of suspicion for removing security forces previous to the Milo Yiannapolous speech.
Now it turns out, that one the thugs who beat a Trump supporter during the riot is allegedly actually a paid employee of UC-Berkeley. Ian Miller, who works as a Digital Communication Specialist at $70,000 per year, boasted about the attacks on social media. And we're almost willing to bet a steak dinner that Miller won't turn out to be the only one involved in the riot, either.
If Miller is indeed involved in the crimes that he boasted of, he should of course be indicted for them. But the important thing in the story is that it adds reasonable suspicion to the belief that Dirks' involvement in the riots was more than passive. The trail of culpability in the Berkeley Riot is starting to lead very strongly in the direction of the UC-Berkeley Administration.
The fact that UC-Berkeley administrative staff were agents of the Antifa, would have put them in a position, presumably, to have known that security arrangements the night of the Milo speech were weak. And it's been reported reliably from several witnesses at Berkeley that the Anarchists came to the event especially well-prepared and well-organized. Robert Reich and some of the Anarchist apologists have even noted this anomaly; and have suggested on these grounds a false-flag organized by Milo.
But more reasonably, the evidence is beginning to suggest that UC-Berkeley administrators were the ones working in some kind of concert with the Anarchists. Dirks' extreme negligence in providing adequate security is inexplicable otherwise. That aspect is the whole flaw in Reich's theory: because even if Milo's people staged the attacks, they would still have needed Dirks' complicity to accomplish it.
At this point, it would be reasonable for the Trump Administration to order the FBI to step in and begin putting Messrs. Dirks and Miller; along with the UC-Berkeley Administration and the chieftains of the Bay Area Anarchists under a microscope. These characters definitely need to do a lot of explaining to the American taxpayers and Berkeley crime victims about what went wrong on the campus that night.
Our Postmodern Era has little good to say about fathers, or a man as protector and provider for a family in general. Feminists tell us that women and children don't need the protection of a man; the Red Pills tell us that they don't deserve any such protection.
But evil exists in the world. It's noteworthy that in the Christian Bible, God's first commandment to Adam in the Garden was "maintain the Garden and defend it." That command has defined masculine duty since the Creation and all the men we admire since have fulfilled it. Defending one's family, one's business, one's community are all forms of defending a man's 'garden'. The men we respect as heroes go further: defending their faith, their nation, and even the world. It's no accident that the superheroes of popular culture---from the ancient Hercules to the modern Superman were often depicted as saving all humanity at various times.
This weekend's film recommendation is a classic Western of that dynamic from 1971, titled Big Jake. It stars the legendary John Wayne as rancher Jacob McCandles.
The story begins with McCandles living in a state of exile from his ranch as a soldier of fortune. The reason for his departure is never given, but the sense is that it was some sacrifice for a greater good. McCandles is believed by many to be dead, and that entices a band of thugs to raid his ranch, kidnap his grandson, and hold him for ransom. His faithful and devoted wife (played by the lovely Maureen O'Hara) summons 'Big Jake' back to the ranch to track down the gang and rescue their grandchild.
Big Jake finds upon his return that his two sons have grown up and suffered from the deficiency of a strong fatherly influence. He brings them on the mission, and they get a good crash-course on growing up and becoming a man along the way. In one memorable early scene, McCandles thrashes his back-talking eldest son by saying, "If you don't learn to respect your elders, you'll learn to respect your betters."
Big Jake is the type of story that would cause those of the effete Snowflake Generation to bristle. Mostly because it deals with reality as its premise. Postmodern culture pretends that we exist in a world of "male privilege". Big Jake is reminder that a man's duty to his family and society is often harsh and demanding and takes courage and fortitude to back down the forces of evil. There's more to being a man than setting fire to trash cans in front of a complacent police force or organizing online troll attacks on women. That's pretending to be a man. The real men roll up their sleeves and take evil head-on.
We are talking about a John Wayne film, so there's no shortage of action in this movie. Younger generations who haven't been exposed to Wayne's mystique and portrayals of unalloyed manhood would benefit greatly from watching a few of his films.
Big Jake is available on DVD, occasionally on the free download sites too. But the DVD is probably the better option. Western film bloggers universally rate Big Jake among their all-time favorites, and it's one of ours too.
In case anyone thought that only the Far Left spreads fake news, the anti-Conservative elements of the Far Right seldom lag behind. This is especially true when they see an opportunity to defame Jews, Christians, ethnic minorities, and women---or anyone else they consider a threat to their New World Order.
Vox Day today had an article on Alpha Game Plan called "Mandatory Mudsharking." The latter term being Manosphere slang for White women who date gentlemen of color. Not certain what the term is when the genders are reversed; but as a rule, the Red Pills dislike race-mixing, no matter how great the so-called Sexual Market Value might be.
"In case you thought that all of the white girl-black guy propaganda coming out of Hollywood and the ad agencies is coincidental, it's not. It's straight-up anti-White racism." he says.
And then he displays a poster which has been circulating around the Seattle Metro Area as proof:
The only problem here is that this poster is a hoax. The message it contains was too vile even for the ultra-Left UW Student newspaper, whose editors contacted the Anarchist group Emerald City Antifa for an explanation. The Anarchists even disavowed the poster as a false flag. But not the Red Pill Cultists of the Manosphere. They pounced on the poster as genuine in spite of the logical absurdities it contains---which would have convinced anyone that it is a fake after a few minutes' thought. Obviously, there are White homosexuals, transgenders, and disabled who believe themselves victims of discrimination and side with the Left.
I suppose though we should expect this of people who believe that leaders like Clarence Thomas, Ken Blackwell, and Ben Carson or the 89 Black Congressional Medal of Honor winners don't qualify as 'real Americans'. President Trump was right to repudiate these characters before, and the Republican Party should take note and follow suit.
Stung by a series of recent humiliations that has made them global laughing-stocks, the Whacko Left completely exploded in Berkeley, California last night. An intended speech by Milo Yiannapolous at the University of California had to be cancelled after an out-of-control Bay Area mob collectively lost it and began beating people, throwing cherry-bombs and gas grenades, looting ATMs and stores, setting fires, etc.
Chancellor Nicholas Dirks of UC-Berkeley condemned the violence---after Trump began a Twitter discussion questioning whether the University deserved further federal funding. Dirks said: "UC-Berkeley condemns in the strongest possible terms the actions of individuals who invaded the campus, infiltrated a crowd of peaceful students, and used violent tactics to close down the event."
Dirks isn't exactly telling the truth here. RT News interviewed the Campus Republicans sponsoring Yiannapolous' speech who complained that, even though they'd paid a security fee, that no police were present when the riots began. Does Chancellor Dirks wish to explain why not? In the last month alone, violent riots have broken out at Yiannapolous speeches at UC-Davis and the University of Washington. Did Dirks really imagine that nothing was going to happen at Berkeley?
It seems to this writer's mind that the inquest into the Berkeley Riots needs to start in the office of Chancellor Dirks. His gross negligence---and likely deliberate negligence at that---was responsible for the extent of the violence last night in Berkeley. Anyone who suffered injuries or property damage there yesterday should seriously consider a civil lawsuit against Dirks and UC-Berkeley. Some of their $4 billion budget should go to a worthier cause; because it obviously isn't being spent educating anybody.
Dirks himself rakes in a hefty $532,000 salary at UC-Berkeley. He is currently under investigation for misappropriation of funds, but has agreed to remain as chancellor until a new crook is chosen to replace him.
UC-Berkeley is clearly another dysfunctional university which really no longer serves a legitimate purpose. President Trump is correct that it's past time to start a national dialogue on federal funding for many of these institutions.
Portland, Oregon has been at the epicenter of the so-called 'Resistance' since November 8th, but the anarchistic gang Portland Resistance is currently without its leader, Micah Rhodes. Rhodes was taken into custody during a violent protest on an outstanding warrant for homosexual assault on a minor.
According to KOIN, Rhodes is facing four counts of 2nd-Degree sexual abuse. The Oregon State Police confirmed to KOIN that Rhodes is a registered sex offender who was previously convicted of 1st-Degree sexual abuse and 1st-Degree sodomy. It's also worthy of note, that KOIN mentions, "Rhodes is a well-known community activist. He has led several recent protests, including one with dozens of high school students."
Rhodes is about typical of what one finds among the Anarchist element. He has been in jail multiple times, twice during anti-Election protests in November alone. Rhodes joins a long line of Portland community leaders charged with homosexual acts with underage males including former mayor Sam Adams; top Oregon DNC fundraiser Terence Bean; and former Subway executive Jared Fogle, who was Grand Marshal of Portland's annual Regence Floral Walk in 2011 and a frequent visitor to Portland community events.
Rhodes heads Portland Resistance along with Gregory McKelvey and Kathryn Stevens. McKelvey has reportedly brought the ACLU in to defend Rhodes and is leading protests at the County Jail. McKelvey, it should be noted, is a law student who also heads a volunteer agency working with immigrant refugee children. Are we noticing a pattern here?
Not surprisingly, McKelvey is an official candidate for Oregon Delegate in the DNC.
Kathryn Stevens, is a psychologist working with homeless youth, and is an 'LGBTQ Advocate.'
I think it might be a wise idea for Portland-area parents to keep their children and adolescent minors as far away from the 'protesters' as possible. But that's assuming that the adult population of Portland still has it together enough even to see the potential danger.
Apple Technologies CEO Tim Cook is another Wall Street freebooter who's suddenly become a member of the Anti-Trump Resistance; or so it would seem from the Corporate Media. Cook, with a net worth of $785 million, is portraying himself as sympathetic to the plight of immigrants, and has been complaining loudly to a gullible press how Trump's policies will impact economic opportunity.
But is this the whole story? Maybe not. According to the Government's own numbers, Apple filed for nearly 7,000 work-related immigrant visas during the last fiscal year. They rank in the top 20 corporate visa sponsors---in other words, they are importing cheap labor from abroad while denying jobs to Americans. Immigration reform is obviously not in Apple's financial interest.
Not only that, but Apple also benefits from a little-known government subsidy program enacted by Obama, but heading for the chopping-block under Trump. The Optional Practical Training program subsidizes Wall Street firms engaged in STEM industries to hire foreign graduate students. Corporations are not only given tax breaks under this program, but paid a cash bonus of up to $15,000 per student hired. How many Apple has is not reported; but 180,000 jobs nationwide are currently taken from American graduate students to favor foreigners. And, as we noted earlier, Academia participates wholeheartedly in the foreign-exchange student scam.
Not only are Trump's immigration reforms biting into Cook's bottom line, but there was another relevant development related to Apple recently. Though the story went unnoticed in America, the Chinese Media had a story about it. This excerpt from the Business Section of The Global Times will explain a lot:
"Apple Inc.'s sales on the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao---once touted as the company's next growth engine, stood at $16.2 billion, down 12%, the only market posting a contraction. The company announced its new quarter results last Tuesday...In 2016, Apple's performance in China fell short of expectations, with its I-phone production volume falling 11.5% annually. It's gross profit plunged 19%."
This probably underlies much of Cook's newly-found activism. It's going to be a lot easier to blame Trump's policies at the next Shareholders' Meeting than explaining to angry investors how he managed to botch things so badly in China. Apple's performance in China has been so bad that Chinese-produced I-Phones are outselling Apple nearly 4-1; even in Taiwan and the Territories. And Cook's not getting any bailout from Trump either.
The anti-Trump 'protesters' need to take a good, long look at who's backing them, and why.
