The Portland, Oregon metro area has become the America Left's epicenter of opposition to Democracy. Recently the scene of violent anti-Election and anti-Police riots, the Portland area public schools also made news earlier this year because of an unsuccessful effort to allow Satanists to recruit on campus. This time, the Portland suburb of Hillsboro is in the midst of a controversy after their school district ended a long tradition of Christmas decoration competition.
"We will not be holding a decorating contest this year." read an official memo. "You may still decorate your door or office if you like, but we ask that you be respectful and sensitive to the diverse perspectives and beliefs of our community and refrain from using religious-themed decorations or images like Santa Claus."
Recall that Portland is a community where violent, drug-addicted street bums are allowed to live on public sidewalks and school districts are required to promote homosexual acceptance. But images of Christmas are considered offensive to the effete Oregonians. Beth Graser, a District spokeswoman explained to station KGW reporters that "We had some staff members and visitors to our building indicate that they were uncomfortable and didn't feel welcome due to the overwhelming Christmas atmosphere that had been created."
How many of us actually remember an era in America when celebrating Christmas was not considered oppressive? "We need to create inclusive and welcoming spaces for all of our students and realize that many of them do not feel comfortable...being surrounded by imagery that is a direct affront to them." Graser stated.
It's almost pathetic to consider in what a gloomy world the typical 'Progressive' must live. It must be painful to exist in a milieu where everything traditional (i.e. normative) is seen as offensive and a cause for hatred and outrage. It's no wonder that the Portland Metro Area has the 4th highest national rate of substance abuse.
The Hillsboro School District itself is so incompetently administered that it managed to lose over $8 million despite statewide school spending of nearly $7 billion. Hillsboro teachers are the lowest-paid in the county, despite their superintendent being the 4th highest-paid public school administrator in Oregon. His five subordinate principals earn between $134,000 and $145,000 annually. So at least among the Portland Elites, there's no shortage of holiday cheer that goes all the way to the bank.
Needless to say, the degenerate residents in this area don't feel the least bit uncomfortable about stupidity like this being carried on in front of children. But this is what happens when deviants and drug addicts make local policy.
The Personal is not Political when it comes to Christmas. It's time not only to push Political Correctness out of our schools, but out of our holiday traditions as well.
Well said. I am just old enough to have watched the "progress" within our public schools. There was a time when we all said the pledge of allegiance, sang the national anthem, and at Christmastime sang hymns and carols. What was standard for the culture at large was taught in public school and these things made you familiar with the culture and rituals practiced around you, but they also gave you something to hang onto, something firm and stable, tradition perhaps. Kids no longer have that stability. Today your election was stolen, your gender is fluid, the church is your enemy, and even the joy of Christmas is perceived as ugly and oppressive. Kids have nothing to hang onto, no stability within the culture, and so no surprise that so many turn to drugs and alcohol. We've made the world a scary place built on shifting sand.
ReplyDeleteToday I try to speak the most foolish things over kids, "no your election was not stolen, it okay, we as a country got this thing. Relax, your very gender is not going to suddenly change on you. It's okay to go to church, people there really just want to care about you." Silly, ridiculous things I never in a million years dreamed I'd have to say. Consider those things from a child's perspective, a kid who has no experience or filter on their brain, and it's enough to make you despair for all of humankind. What we are doing is criminal and if I had my way I'd run all those officials out of town on a rail.
There was a time when they would have been run out of town on a rail, often with a coat of tar and feathers.
DeleteBesides substance abuse, another side effect of depriving children of social stability is that many seek that stability in extremist religious or political groups. Young people who have no faith in traditions are extremely vulnerable to these types of psychological predators.
