So, Pope Francis has been accused of something sexual by some unknown somebody who claims that the whole incident happened somewhere sometime in the past; so says the Corporate Media after somebody whispered something in some reporter's ear. Or so some people say. But I'm with Mrs. Trump:
Why don't we care, and neither should you? Here are a few reasons:
1. The American Media Lies. The Media lies continually about Pope Francis. Just a few days ago, they claimed that Pope abolished the Doctrine of Hell. They told lies about Pope Benedict and about Pope John Paul continually too.
2. Sleazy Sex Scandals Sell. Ever since Clarence Thomas' Senate confirmation hearing, the Media found that abandoning Journalism and peddling 'Infotainment' instead sells. Mixing the tactics of shock-jocks, reality-TV, tabloid muckraking, and soft-core pornographers with a few facts made the Media Cartels rich. In a sexually repressive culture like ours, voyeurism and paedohysteria are irresistible sociological forces.
3. The American Media is Reflexively Anti-Catholic. Most of the Media is anti-Christian generally, but anti-Catholic in particular. This is also true of Alt-RINO news outlets like World News Daily who ran the 'exclusive' about the Pope today. WND features regular articles by Catholic-haters like Vox Day and Michael Savage.
Of course, America is a country where Free Speech and a Free Press is a Right. I would have no issues if people want to read and write sensationalist stories; or produce films and TV shows for the illiterates among the connoisseurs of such garbage. What's troubling is that this trash is being palmed off on the public as 'news' and real people, in real life, suffer the consequences. Even in some cases where the accused were found guilty---like Jerry Sandusky or Jodi Arrias---it's hard to believe that they actually got a fair and unbiased trial. Others have had their lives, reputations, and fortunes destroyed on the mere say-so of public rumor and innuendo.
In most of these kinds of cases, the evidence of 'sexual misconduct' (whatever that means) was committed in private and a remote time and/or place. The Courts cannot possibly determine the truth or falsehood of such matters. They have only the word of the accusers. The accusers have nothing to lose by lying. They stand to gain notoriety, profit, or even revenge with little or no consequences if they fail. The accused stands to lose everything.
Which brings us back to Point #2. Back when we were still taught actual History in schools, we read with horror of witch-hunts and Negro lynchings. These sex scandals whip up hysteria not unlike those events. A mob always acts first and thinks later. Our Constitution sets up strict rules of evidence and strictly condemns such practices as we were subject to before July 4th, 1776. Things like the Star Chamber, extorted confessions, ex post facto laws, Bills of Attainder, and other organized forms of public violence to Justice. The Media wouldn't care if all of these things came back---just so long as they are the ones to be the judge and jury and get to broadcast the execution on Pay-per-View.
Just say 'no' to Media-driven fake scandals and say 'yes' to Justice.
If Trump nominates Amy Coney Barratt for the Supreme Court the anti-Catholic bigotry will be on full frontal display. She can handle it...
